Role Overview
We are looking for a Tech Lead Cloud Engineer V who will serve as a day to day technical thought leader on our growing Cloud Engineering team. We are looking for a talented, seasoned engineer who can hit the ground running, serve as a cloud SME, and to help design, develop, and eventually maintain the systems that allow us to scale as we grow. You will ensure that our cloud infrastructure is high performance, resilient, secure and observable.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team to build and operate a highly scalable and resilient infrastructure
- Become ID.me’s subject matter expert for our GCP cloud domains
- Introduce tools to facilitate greater automation and operability of services
- Design and develop automation for maintenance tasks and upgrades of database clusters and services
- Plan and lead complicated technical projects that interact with a wide variety of teams within the company
- Help define and iterate on processes to increase cloud engineering capabilities
- Utilize your deep experience and problem solving skills to help prevent and investigate production issues
- Maintain an audit-ready posture, and automate controls for security, compliance, and auditability
- Participate in on-call rotation and ensure uptime of services
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience
- Strong background with GCP technologies (Cloud SQL/Cloud Spanner/AlloyDB, GCS, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Artifact Registry/Container Registry, Cloud KMS, Stackdriver, Cloud Functions, Cloud DNS, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Certificate Manager, Cloud Build/Deployment Manager)
- Strong understanding of GCP resource and application scaling
- Experience with containers (Docker) building easy-to-use development environments
- Experience with end-to-end debugging of infrastructure performance & issues
- Solid understanding cloud-based application and infrastructure security best practices
- Strong understanding of Linux administration (Ubuntu)
- Strong understanding of IaC/orchestration tools (Chef, Ansible)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and build toolchains (Terraform, GitHub Actions, Harness CD, etc)
- Experience managing and fine tuning persistence services, such as RDBMS (Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc)
- Understanding of observability tools (Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, etc)
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in supporting a 24/7 infrastructure including on-call rotations

The annual base salary listed below for this role is based on experience, skills, education, relevant training and geographic location. Company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, and benefits are available depending on the role.
