What You Bring

Proven Experience: 5+ years of professional web development experience, including 2+ years with modern frameworks like Next.js.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and HTML, with a strong focus on building scalable and maintainable codebases.
CMS Mastery: Hands-on experience with CMS platforms such as Builder.io, Contentful, or similar.
Optimization Skills: Proficiency in web performance, SEO, and accessibility best practices.

3+ years of experience in developing, and maintaining robust data models from structured and unstructured sources
3+ years of experience writing accurate and effective code in SQL (Python is a plus)
Experience with modern data storage and processing technologies (i.e, BigQuery SQL, Looker, Airflow, and dbt or similar)
Experience proactively identifying opportunities to improve ETL & dashboard performance and cost
Experience leveraging your excellent communication skills to thrive in ambiguous environments where problems are not well-defined and evolve quickly

The Product Data team at Productboard is responsible for building performant, reliable and scalable core data storage and query engine. We ensure optimal user experience by providing robust search & filtering capabilities and scalable data aggregations on top of the core data storage.

As a frontend engineer in this team, your job will be to improve, extend and maintain a core dynamic Filtering User Interface that powers critical use-cases of our New Boards. About the AI team

AI team is a cross-functional product team, composed of backend, frontend, machine learning engineers with PMs and designers. You might have already explored the AI capabilities within our product, and we aim to build more copilot features into Insights and other domains, enabling bulk-processing, pre-processing, smart suggestions and other functionality. In the end, our customers would be presented with aggregated insights & clustered data, which is connected to the features & ideas they plan to build.

To create even more value for customers, we are on a mission to help product teams transform their product management practices, leveraging the power of AI to make impactful product decisions faster through a deeper understanding of different types of data within the Productboard platform (customer feedback, competitors, market intelligence, business strategy, etc.)

We also aim to make product teams more effective on tactical and strategic tasks throughout the entire product management lifecycle with AI-powered workflows that augment existing core workflows within Productboard.

The Customer Centricity team at Productboard is building the backend foundations for working with customer data. The Opportunity:

Our Insights Experience team is at the heart of helping customers derive deep understanding from their user feedback. As a backend-focused Staff Product Engineer on this team, you'll play a pivotal role in building and enhancing the product features that make this possible.

You'll be working on features that heavily leverage modern AI techniques, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs) and methods like Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). However, your primary focus will be on robust backend engineering for the product itself. You will build the application logic that thoughtfully integrates services from Productboard's internal AI platform and leading external providers (e.g., Google, OpenAI, Anthropic). Your work will involve a blend of core backend development and specialized tasks related to integrating and optimizing AI service usage for our product features.

This is an ideal role for an engineer who enjoys the challenge of building user-facing products that incorporate sophisticated technologies effectively. You'll need a strong product-oriented understanding of LLMs – how to best use them in a product context, what works well, and what doesn't. About the Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Roadmaps team, one of the most used and visually dynamic parts of Productboard. You’ll work on complex, user-facing features that help our customers visualize and plan their product strategies, ensuring our Roadmaps remain high-performing, delightful, and ready to support a wide array of use cases.

In this role, you’ll collaborate daily with our Product Manager, Product Designer, Engineering Manager, and eight other engineers at various levels—from junior to staff. You’ll be a key contributor to architecture discussions, code reviews, and observability efforts, leveraging React & TypeScript on the frontend, and Kotlin & Spring Boot on the backend within a distributed environment using federated GraphQL for data fetching.

Beyond hands-on coding, you’ll play a pivotal role in mentoring and guiding the team, contributing to our culture of customer-centricity, collaboration, and ownership. What You’ll Achieve:

Build End-to-End Features: You’ll craft intuitive, performant frontends in React while building and refining the backend systems that power them. Your work will directly impact thousands of product teams worldwide.

As our first hire in this domain, you’ll join as a key leader shaping our approach to data infrastructure. Your main responsibility is to build systems that make data storage efficient, scalable, and reliable. Together, we’ll ensure our data storage landscape enables engineers, product teams, and analytics to move quickly and confidently.

What You Will Do

Collaborate with engineers to review and optimize our current transactional and non-transactional databases, initially focused on our query engine and expanding across modules.
Design, evaluate, and evolve data storage strategies - including selecting the right storage systems (relational, NoSQL, cloud or on-prem) - to future-proof our infrastructure.
Architect and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data storage solutions; introduce best practices, monitoring, and self-serve storage patterns.
Build and enhance ETL/data pipelines, ensuring they’re performant, reliable, and adaptable for diverse data needs.
Implement data governance, storage optimization, indexing, partitioning strategies, and access control to uphold performance and compliance.
Partner with product, analytics, and platform teams to align our technical strategy with business and user needs - anticipating future data demands and enabling self-service data capabilities.

What We Are Looking For

In addition to being a highly experienced technical leader, we’re looking for someone who embraces strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration:

5+ years of engineering experience in data, storage, or platform roles
Expertise with multiple data storage technologies (not just PostgreSQL and OpenSearch) - including cloud-native, NoSQL, data warehouses or hybrid systems
Strong skills in data architecture design, performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and storage optimization
Hands-on experience designing or improving query engines, ETL pipelines, or data infrastructure
A platform-oriented mindset - prioritizing self-service, standardization, scalability, and enabling consumers of data
Excellent communication, product empathy, and ability to work with diverse stakeholders - translating technical considerations into business outcomes

Your Tech Stack

Proficiency in SQL and one or more programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Kotlin, Java) for scripting and pipeline development
Familiarity with both transactional and analytical database systems, relational and non-relational stores
Experience with query engine optimization, indexing, partitioning, distributed storage architectures
Exposure to cloud infrastructure and tools (AWS, GCP, Azure), orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Kubernetes)
Understanding of data governance, compliance, and security best practices in storage and pipelines

What Will Make You Stand Out

Deep experience in self-serve data platforms or Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) focused on data capabilities
Proven track record of owning data technical strategy and driving long-term storage architecture decisions
Exposure to emerging paradigms like data mesh, decentralized data architectures, or treating data as a product
