Lead Engineer, Cloud Billing Platform

MongoDB is seeking a Lead Engineer to join the Cloud Billing Platform team. The Cloud Billing Platform team is responsible for ingesting and processing usage data from both internal and external sources to support billing millions of customers. It is a constantly evolving technical challenge to scale our systems and meet the needs of the business. Our talented engineers are passionate about code quality, rigorous about testing and correctness, skilled at communicating with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, and effectively scaling our systems.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model.

Our ideal candidate

• Has at least 2+ year(s) of experience managing a team of 3+ engineers and providing technical leadership
• Has experience communicating with stakeholders across time zones
• Is experienced at mentoring and growing high performing software engineering teams
• Has at least 4 years of professional experience developing backend systems in a compiled language (Java, C#, Go, etc.)
• Is familiar with a modern JavaScript environment
• Has experience working in distributed systems
• Has collaborated with technical and non-technical teams
• Continually pushes to improve engineering while incorporating complex business needs
• Is equally motivated by technical challenges and the growth and development of their team
• Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Is curious, collaborative, empathetic, and intellectually honest

• Lead and grow a team of engineers passionate about their craft
• Take responsibility for the planning and execution of major features, representing Engineering when working with several teams including Sales and Accounting
• Collaborate with team members to develop and mature our best engineering practices and core concepts
• Design processes to ensure that the team can efficiently scale with the business
• Own the monitoring, operations, and maintenance of the systems your team develops 
• Work closely with other MongoDB teams that are downstream consumers of the systems your team builds and maintains
• Work with some of the best and brightest engineers in the industry who thrive on collaboration, technical excellence and mutual respect
