PagerDuty is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As a Systems Engineer II, you will be responsible for the configuration, patch management, and overall maintenance of our employees' laptops. This role is essential in ensuring our internal systems run smoothly and securely, supporting the broader IT Operations & Security team. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage a deep knowledge of cross-functional applications and processes and apply integrations to enable us to grow in a scalable, efficient, secure, and automated way. That entails everything from new-hire onboarding, to patch/configuration best practices, to connecting and automating a growing list of SaaS tools to better manage our growing endpoint fleet. The ideal candidate will have a curious mindset and likes to solve complex technical problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Configuration Management: Deploy and manage desktop configurations across the organization, ensuring consistency and compliance with corporate policies using Jamf, Intune, etc.
  • Patch Management: Implement and manage a robust patch management strategy to ensure all employee laptops are up-to-date with the latest security patches and software updates.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for desktop-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption for employees.
  • Automation: Develop and maintain scripts and automation processes to streamline desktop management tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT team members, including network and security engineers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of desktop environments.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of desktop configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • User Training: Assist in the creation and delivery of training materials to help employees effectively use their laptops and related software.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in an IT support environment.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a systems administration/engineering role.
  • Experience working with IAM tools (Entra, AzureAD, Okta) and processes (account lifecycle, permissions, privileged account management).
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure, GCP, and/or AWS).
  • Provide support to employees across the globe using ITSM solutions such as Jira as Tier 2 support. 
  • Experience with Workato or similar automation tools (Zapier, etc). Advanced Automation skills: Implementing more complex workflows and approval processes.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Windows and MacOS operating systems.
    • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Intune, JAMF).
    • Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
    • Familiarity with patch, configuration, and asset management solutions.
    • Knowledge of basic networking concepts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Leads efforts to troubleshoot and resolve more complex issues without supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with the full VDI lifecycle, from design and implementation to maintenance and optimization, with a focus on delivering a high-quality user experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to impact future product or technical/business strategy; ability to influence leadership in setting group objectives and direction.
  • Anticipates broad industry changes and ensures PD is always ahead of the curve.

This role is expected to come into our Toronto office 1 day per week (plus as needed), so you can thrive in your new role and fully embrace being a Dutonian!

The base salary range for this position is 87,000 - 122,000 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.

Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
