Who We Are

Nuro exists to better everyday life through robotics. Founded in 2016, Nuro is a leading autonomous technology company with vehicles on road today in California and Texas. The company’s core technology is the Nuro Driver, an integrated autonomous driving system consisting of state-of-the-art, AI-first software and custom-built sense and compute hardware. The first commercial application of the Nuro Driver is autonomous goods delivery with our custom, electric, zero-occupant vehicles in partnership with some of the most recognized brands in the world including Uber and FedEx.

About the Role

Nuro's radars are an integral part of the robots' perception system. In this role, you will work with different generations of radars - develop lean, creative, and well-optimized software that parses and processes the data output from these radars. You will create interfaces between radars and other distributed systems across the robot that consume radar data. Additionally, you will be building and maintaining tools for testing, evaluating and validating the operation of these radars, on data collected on road and in the lab. You will maintain the software stack used in and with the radar pipeline, in C++. Additionally, you get to play with radar hardware, both prototype and production, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of hardware and software engineers.

About the Work

  • Write well-designed, lean, and reliable code in C++.
  • Design software architecture and implement radar processing and eval pipelines for different hardware variants.
  • Profile software performance and implement improvements as necessary.
  • Debug complex, systems-level problems that often span multiple hardware devices and across software layers from kernel to application.
  • Maintain a large-scale production-quality C++ code base for multiple generations of radar hardware.
  • Execute rigorous software testing and develop/maintain tools for large-scale data evaluation.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ with emphasis on concurrency, shared memory usage, performance, real-time data consumption.
  • 2+ years experience writing production-quality C++ code that interacts with real-time sensor data.
  • Love working with operating systems internals and take joy in optimizing software performance.

Bonus Points

  • Fluency in Python (for developing/maintaining evaluation tools and pipeline).
  • Experience working with radar hardware, numerical computation, radar data processing.
  • Knowledge of networking, IP protocol stack, PHY, UDP, application layer.
  • Interested in working with radars.
