Mapbox is looking for a Senior Application Security Engineer to join our Security & Compliance team. Lead the initiation, design (requirements and specifications), and building of the product roadmap for algorithmic stages within cloud applications.

Work on the world’s leading open source vector map rendering engines.
Work on the entire graphics chain, from assisting in data processing pipeline creation to rendering.

Improve the project’s performance, stability, maintainability and simplicity.

What You'll Do

As an Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and operating significant areas of our routing services. In this role, you can expect to:

Solve complex guidance scenarios that don’t have good solutions today
Develop best-in-class guidance experiences that make routing enjoyable, not robotic
Provide highly customizable guidance solutions for large OEMs as well as very niche customers with unique use cases
Build the tools others will use to unlock incredible mapping and navigation solutions never seen before

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

Experience engineering modern C++ and Linux server applications in a commercial or open-source development environment, or equivalent performance-critical systems experience with Go, Rust, or the JVM.
Knowledge of operating systems and distributed systems (e.g., fault-tolerance, consistency, service discovery, etc.)
A rigorous approach to problem solving, using experiments and data analysis to drive quality of service improvements

Our annual base compensation for this role ranges from $143,000 - $213,325 for most US locations and 5% to 10% higher for US locations with a higher cost of labor. What We Do

The Navigation SDK Core team contributes to the development of navigation components and APIs that expose the Mapbox Navigation Engine and provide surface area for core navigation functionality such as routing, guidance, and voice controls. We work at the core of a Navigation SDK product serving customers with use cases ranging from turn-by-turn navigation to delivery route planning for fleets of thousands of trucks. We get users from point A to point B effectively matching them on roads as accurately as possible. Serving customers like BMW, Toyota, Rivian, Instacart, and Doordash is at the core of our mission, backed by our commitment to technical excellence and collaborative innovation. Our core components are built using C++ for performance and flexibility.

What You'll Do

We are seeking a technical Engineering Manager who is driven by the idea of enhancing and developing core and essential components of current and future implementations of the navigation ecosystem here at Mapbox.

In this role, you will:

Mentor, support and inspire engineers on the team, helping them grow in their career.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, inclusion and data-driven decisions.
Drive company, product, and team objectives, carrying the team along in the decision-making.
Work with Product and Engineering Teams to define the roadmap for the Navigation SDK products.
Collaborate on what our customers need, and develop a strategic plan to address them, for example via RFCs or FAQs.
Contribute to business and product planning.
