Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Site Reliability Engineer or equivalent (incl. on-call).
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Ruby, Go, Python.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems internals and administration or networking.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering, System Design, and Distributed Computing.
  • Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems, including relational databases.
  • Systematic problem-solving approach, with excellent communication skills and a sense of drive.
  • Experience with New Relic or, secondarily, a similar observability platform.
  • Experience with AWS or, secondarily, Google Cloud Platform.
  • A Computer Science degree, similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the reliability of the company’s main web application by proactively preventing incidents/outages from happening.
  • Partaking in the team’s on-call rotation schedule.
  • Participate in the team’s improvements in our ability to detect incidents faster, triage them more quickly, and resolve them sooner.
  • Champion SRE best practices within the team and the Engineering department, and develop tooling to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Raise the bar and be a leader within operational excellence by actively contributing to the continuous operational training of the team.
  • Contribute to the company’s code bases.
