Cruise’s Threat Defense team defends against external adversaries and internal threats. Our goal is to protect Cruise: our autonomous vehicles & technology, our customers, and our employees.
Security Data facilitates threat detection and response capabilities via the procurement of security-relevant data, as well as the creation and maintenance of threat detections. We aim to provide the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (CIRT), Privacy Engineering and other Security customers with Cruise information system data in a manner that is comprehensive, uniform, centralized, and speedy. Moreover, the team strives to provide behavioral detections to improve Cruise’s security posture against external adversaries and internal threats. Security Data maintains an internally-built logging and detection pipeline, and builds innovative data solutions that enable efficient log parsing, detection and analysis.
As part of our small team of engineers, you will be responsible for writing and integrating software that spans the detection and response lifecycle. We have autonomy to define what we build and how we build it.
As Cruise approaches commercialization, we need strong software engineering talent to help detect sophisticated cybersecurity attacks by adversaries. We welcome and thrive on outside-the-box thinking, which we need in order to make the cyber security problem tractable.
Writing testable software using modern cloud architectures & code reviewing peer software
Designing novel systems to automate and streamline our detection and response capabilities
Collaborating with teams across the organization to threat model systems and develop new security detections
Extensive experience writing software using any modern language (e.g. python, go, java)
Experience deploying software using any modern CI/CD pipeline
Experience operating in Cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Knowledge of core network and application protocols
Moderate level of experience in information security
Familiarity with SQL for querying complex data sets
Experience deploying and operating software in kubernetes
Experience participating in threat hunts
Familiarity with static and dynamic malware analysis
Contributions to the open source community (public research, blogging, presentations, etc)
Experience mentoring less senior members of an engineering team
The salary range for this position is $168,000 - 247,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
Through our partnerships with General Motors and Honda, we are the only self-driving company with fully integrated manufacturing at scale.
