Guild is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to work with our applied learning team! This role requires a highly experienced engineer with a passion for building complex B2B SaaS products. You will lead the technical design and actively participate in the development process, leveraging your full-stack development experience to quickly bring new product capabilities to life and iterate on them to meet market demand and scale with growth. You will work within a diverse team to accelerate Guild’s mission and expand our market presence.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly deliver working capabilities to the market, learn from customer feedback, and iterate upon them over time.
  • Express the technical product vision in the form of models and technical designs.
  • Drive accelerated delivery by enabling other engineers to contribute and take ownership.
  • Leverage established patterns, practices, technologies, and platform components where applicable and make sound decisions to diverge from these when appropriate.
  • Be accountable for solution accuracy, timeliness, efficiency, reliability, performance, and flexibility.
  • Gain an understanding of existing operational business practices to design and build solutions that optimize for outcomes and scale.
  • Contribute to Guild’s platform inventory and advance our patterns, practices, and overall technical abilities.
  • Build trust with Guild stakeholders and establish a reputation for dependability and quality.
  • Mentor other engineers and set the bar for technical excellence through code/design reviews, pair programming, and other interactions.

Role Competencies:

  • 15+ years of experience designing and developing enterprise SaaS solutions.
  • Experience in a scale-up SaaS business is ideal.
  • Proficiency in technical design and synthesis of new products and platforms within an existing complex environment and problem domain.
  • Ability to lead and implement technical transformation, getting products to market quickly by combining existing assets and synthesizing new ones.
  • Full-stack development skills, with expertise in building microservices and event-driven architectures in AWS.
  • Proficiency in Typescript, Python, AWS Lambda, containerized workloads, AWS RDS/Postgres, DocumentDB/Mongo, and other AWS persistence mechanisms.
  • Ensuring software quality through effective test automation.
  • Experience with CI/CD/DevOps using tools like GitHub, AWS CDK, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • Skills in system performance modeling and monitoring.
  • Experience in software quality assurance and test automation.
  • Capability to initiate and lead change.

We feel passionately about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one vehicle to achieve that. Total compensation for this role is market competitive, including a base salary range of $210,000-$247,500, variable compensation, as well as company stock options.
