The Principal Database Architect is a pivotal figure within our Platform Engineering department, responsible for leading the Database Engineering team and managing our entire database and datastore ecosystem. This role plays a crucial role in shaping our database infrastructure, ensuring it remains efficient, secure, and scalable to support our business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in database architecture and design, with proficiency in various database systems, including SQL and NoSQL, Elasticsearch, Vector.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Database and Datastore services, especially AWS DMS, AWS Aurora (MySQL & PostgreSQL), AWS OpenSearch, and AWS DynamoDB
  • Proven experience in performance monitoring and optimization of databases to ensure high availability and low-latency access to data.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills to effectively lead and mentor the Database Engineering team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to identify and address potential database and query performance issues.
  • Familiarity with data security and compliance standards to ensure data integrity and protection.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend new database technologies and vendors for adoption.
  • Proficiency in documentation and knowledge sharing to maintain comprehensive records of database architecture, configurations, and best practices.
  • Experience in leveraging generative AI for real-world applications and projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in database architecture, design, and administration, including various database and datastore systems (SQL, NoSQL, in-memory databases, object storage, etc).
