The role
This role is focused on leading a team of engineers responsible for our B2B business channel called SoFi atWork. The goal of this platform is to provide new ways for our partners to help their employees get their money right across every life stage. Our mission is to help our members find their path to financial independence by providing them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to get there.
We are looking for a strong Senior Engineering Manager who is passionate about building diverse and inclusive teams, creating a culture of learning and experimentation, has a strong sense of ownership, and embodies a growth mindset. At SoFi, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Product, Design and Engineering and so you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying and continual improvement and evolution.
What you’ll do:
Build and foster cohesive, high-functioning teams that thrive in a culture of trust, respect, and inclusion.
Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal and performance management.
Build strong relationships with Product, Design and Engineering stakeholders.
Take ownership for the group’s short-term and long-term strategy. Define the team's roadmap, success metrics, and priorities in close collaboration with other engineering teams and multi-functional partners. Maintain a balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping things quickly.
Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies.
Deliver highly available and scalable services in a production environment.
Maintain code quality, performance, and sound architectural principles.
Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software engineers.
Working in a fast-moving, highly-collaborative environment across multiple offices.

What you’ll need:
B.S. or higher in Computer Science and a strong computer science foundation with a prior track record of excellence as an engineer.
Previously led a team of engineers and have 2+ years of leadership experience.
Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests.
A strong perspective that drives change and motivates engineers to develop simple solutions to complex problems..
Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Agile Development Experience
Nice to have:
Setting and measuring strategic goals.
Defining a long-term strategic roadmap.
Leading a geographically distributed engineering team.
History of mentoring and growing engineers with varying levels of experience and skills.
Experience with public cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
Experience managing customer-facing products.
Bonus: Experience in FinTech.
