Make your impact within a rapidly growing Fintech Company

We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of 5 full-stack engineers, reporting directly to the Director of Platform Infrastructure and Database Engineering. The perfect candidate should possess strong leadership, extensive engineering experience, excellent communication skills, a proven track record of project delivery, adaptability, commitment to learning, alignment with company values, innovative thinking, and strong organizational abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of 5 software engineers in achieving a high level of technical excellence and stability
  • Expect to allocate 40% of your time towards hands-on engineering tasks, such as code reviews, architectural design, prototyping, and troubleshooting, alongside your managerial duties
  • Deliver new and support existing end-to-end capabilities that consist of customer-facing and underlying platform services
  • Lead the team to try out ideas and learn fast through rapid experimentation
  • Work with architects, product managers and other engineering managers to deliver capabilities that provides the best experience for our customers
  • Manage and develop processes to help the team to do best work and interface effectively with the rest of BILL
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to hire engineers and contractors as you scale the team. 
  • Maintain high standards for operational excellence and engineering rigor through unit tests, functional tests and performance tests
  • Review plans, code, and provide technical guidance to your engineers

We’d love to chat if you have:

  • BS in Computer Science or Engineering
  • 2+ years managing engineers in a SaaS environment
  • 8+ years in software development, focusing on NodeJS and Typescript ideally
  • Expertise in cloud tech (e.g., Kubernetes, Kinesis, Serverless, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL)
  • Proficiency with CI/CD
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, make tough decisions, and prioritize
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality products regularly
  • Experience in agile scrum development
  • Proficiency in leading complex problem-solving in distributed systems
  • Experience in the payments industry or building payment applications
  • Experience leading Engineers through complex problem-solving in large scale distributed systems, performance optimization, and high-availability systems
  • Experience with more advanced or cutting edge technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Serverless Architectures, AI/ML frameworks, Advanced Cloud Services)

Our ranges for each role and job level are based on a variety of factors including candidate experience, expertise, and geographic location and may vary from the amounts listed below. The role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, flexible spending & health savings account, paid holidays, paid time off, and other company benefits. The estimated salary  ranges noted below  are remote based roles in the specific  geographic zones
