About Atomic
Atomic is a venture fund that founds companies. Founded in 2012, we believe that disruptive innovation is most successfully achieved by pairing innovative ideas with business discipline, and that building those ideas into businesses is not something that can be outsourced. We are engineers and entrepreneurs who build and operate the next generation of great companies.

About the Company
We are on a mission to build a new capital lending product with a unique twist (shhh we’re stealth!). As one of our first engineers, you’ll be responsible for building our first product and much of what our company will become, and you’ll be directly responsible for helping shape our solution within the verticals we’ve isolated. We will compensate you well, invest in your development and career progression, and make sure this is one of the best work experiences of your career.

The Role
We’re searching for a Fullstack Engineer who’s excited to tackle ambiguity head-on as we build the company’s core product, and you get to call the shots. The product that you build will need to be very easy to use by a non-technical audience, spark creativity, and foster community; the little details count here.

You’ll be tasked to build a product with thoughtful architecture and compliance top of mind and work with multiple stakeholders and leadership on a frequent basis. With trust and safety, there’s a variety of tools necessary to be integrated in the product you build; you should be comfortable with working with a variety of API’s and integrations. Some experience working on fintech lending products or accounting products is a must!

Quick experimentation and product pivots are core to our company’s roots; this company’s first products were built with no code tools that allowed our team to iterate rapidly.

In this role, you should constantly be working quickly with several APIs and collaborating with the product team to make adjustments - major or minor.

Most importantly, this team has a passion for fintech - our culture is important to us. We’re looking for someone that is open to collaboration and is humble with even their biggest wins.

What You'll Do:

  • Work on a small scrappy founding team on a high-conviction and thoroughly validated concept with higher than average signal of PMF. You'll be the first engineer working on this concept.
  • Design beautiful, engaging and performant UIs.
  • Build back-end layers to support individual applications.
  • Work closely with Atomic’s engineering, product and design teams to plan, architect, and launch features within our applications.
  • Grow technically in the fintech space through research and product initiatives.
  • Develop and own high-quality code across all levels of the stack that allows us to scale to millions of active users.

What You Have:

  • 4+ years of software engineering experience building fintech lending products.
  • Degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or commensurate experience.
  • A demonstrable passion for fintech products and the future of the space.
  • Understanding of fintech, security, compliance, API integrations (such as Stripe).
  • Mastery of web development using JavaScript, Typescript, React, Redux, and NodeJS is highly preferred.
  • Experience in agile project management processes.
  • Thrives in a remote work environment and comfortable with digital communication and productivity skills (Slack, Notion, Zoom, etc.)

Who You Are:

  • Comfortable self-directing and prioritizing your own work
  • Scrappy and “hustle” mindset
  • Ability to envision the short term and long term horizon of development
  • Ability and excitement to constantly iterate
  • Results oriented with a bias towards action
  • Good-natured, humble, and a generally positive person
  • Growth-mindset with a healthy dose of skepticism
  • Strong sense of responsibility with a bias towards action
We are focused on building a diverse and inclusive workforce. If you’re excited about this role, but do not meet 100% of the qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply.
