As a Staff Technical Product Manager for Developer Platform at Cruise, you will help build the future of our software delivery lifecycle platform. You’ll own both the compute layers that power Cruise’s scaled build, test & simulation platform, as well as the developer experience for this software delivery lifecycle. Our ideal candidate will be technically adept and metrics driven, with outstanding communication skills, executive presence, and customer obsession.
Cruise rapidly develops new autonomous capabilities while ensuring maximum safety of our technology. Our developer platform enables engineering teams to iterate rapidly and thoroughly vet their software.
We're seeking an expert in developer platforms with a robust understanding of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and build, test & observability tools. Your mandate is to accelerate the development of new autonomous capabilities by delivering solid tools for the software delivery lifecycle that machine learning engineers as well as other platform teams utilize. You’ll leverage your technical expertise plus developer acumen to figure out how to optimize the compute and experience for maximum productivity.
What you’ll be doing:
Drive the product vision and strategy for Cruise’s build, test & observability tools, informed by a deep understanding of customer needs, product analytics, industry innovations, and a strong grasp of cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and developer tools (Jenkins, Buildkite, Datadog, New Relic).
Partner closely with senior engineering teams to define and align on KPIs and roadmaps that ensure high productivity of Cruise’s machine learning and other platform engineers.
Develop product roadmaps in collaboration with relevant product and engineering teams that execute on product vision and strategy.
Define success metrics for our products and drive the execution and continuous evaluation of these metrics.
Create strong partnerships with our engineers, forming continuous feedback loops that enable a better understanding and solution of their problems.
Source input from multiple channels to ensure that we're solving the most impactful problems and prioritizing effectively to drive maximum impact.
Thoughtfully address product lifecycle and adoption/migration experience for the products you own, providing clear guidance and recommendations to our engineers.
What you must have:
5+ years of product management experience delivering highly impactful and innovative developer tools at scale
Proven expertise in leading highly technical developer platforms, with a special focus on software delivery lifecycle
Strong familiarity with cloud computing, especially VM and compute management on platforms like GCP, Azure and AWS
Solid understanding of open source and vendor tools for build (e.g. Jenkins, Buildkite, Docker), test, and observability (e.g. Datadog, New Relic)
Thorough experience in setting and improving KPIs for developer productivity
Basic understanding of machine learning workflows
Demonstrated ability to formulate and champion a compelling product vision for developer tools, communicating this effectively with leadership and key team members.
Robust experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, particularly Engineers in a range of product areas, from platforms to apps to machine learning.
Proficiency in deriving key product insights from quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to thrive in ambiguity, crafting simplicity and structure in complex scenarios.
An innate sense of curiosity and creativity, driven by the desire to discover novel solutions and advance the industry.
The salary range for this position is $161,500 - $237,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
