The Simulation group delivers products that accelerate our autonomous vehicle development, testing, and deployment through specialized frameworks and tools. As a Staff Software Engineer on Sim Driver, you will define and drive systems requirements to enable and support Simulation’s infrastructure. This role collaborates closely with customers and partners to drive the resolution of technical issues and tackle complex problems in a multi-functional environment.
What you’ll be doing:
Extend the simulation architecture that controls our 2D and 3D simulation frameworks
Build and optimize scalable simulator tools and frameworks to support AV development
Work in cross-functional groups to define requirements and expand simulation framework capabilities
Research and implement authoring and validation tools to ensure our scenarios/tests reflect realistic on-road situations
Collaborate with AV Engineers, System Test Engineers, and Systems Engineers to design and implement new simulation features
What you must have:
BS, MS, or Ph.D. in CS or equivalent real-world experience
5+ years C++ experience with demonstrated proficiency in C++14 and above
Experience developing modern 3D game engine systems such as high-performance math libraries, game object frameworks, game data pipelines, animation, physics, and AI
Solid understanding of 2D and 3D math used in game engines
Ability to communicate well across teams of developers and other staff
Expertise in gathering requirements and writing technical design documents
Experience implementing unit tests and other software development best practices
Bonus points!
Experience building simulation tools for autonomous vehicles or other AI/Robotics applications
Experience with Python
Experience with RPCs (e.g. gRPC)
Experience with Unreal Engine 4
Experience with Bazel or similar build systems
Experience with performance profiling and optimization
Experience with software verification and validation
The salary range for this position is $161,500 - $237,500. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
