THE OPPORTUNITY

We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer to our Mobile Platform team in Portugal

The Mobile Platform team is responsible for enabling engineers to work more efficiently and bringing a better developer experience, working on observability, performance and having the ownership of release management.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you are a passionate developer who is driven by getting things done in high quality and timely. You will have plenty of opportunities to take part in architectural decisions, suggest improvements, and interact with the product team and other business stakeholders in a highly collaborative, agile environment.

You will be accountable for your decisions and possess a high level of ownership over the products you are delivering. You will take ownership of some key features, perform pull-request reviews, and take part in all the architectural decisions of the squad.

You are a data-driven person who asks for data to support product decisions before blindly implementing things. You try to simplify the scope of what you are constantly developing. You are bold and innovative.

You are eager to learn and share knowledge and improve your toolset of technical, business continuity, and communication skills to provide more and more impact to the company.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Participate in the development of some of the most critical and challenging services in our ecosystem, seeking to build long-term and sustainable solutions;
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience;
  • Account for systems reliability, scalability, SLA and SLO;
  • Support existing systems looking to enhance functionality, increase scale, and transform in new ways to meet our product demands;
  • Work in a collaborative and agile environment that prioritizes people over process and is laser-focused on productivity;
  • Take part in incident resolution and troubleshooting in production;
  • Maintain the project technical vision up to date and complete for everyone;
  • Work with cutting-edge technologies and edge cases on a global scale;
  • Ensure successful deliveries, and promote the long-term technical health of our journeys;
  • Ensure a high bar on code quality standards, making sure devs are proud of their work;
  • Spread development best practices such as code reviews, pair programming, TDD, etc.;

WHO YOU ARE

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience;
  • Experienced in designing and developing complex modern web applications;
  • Experience with React Native ecosystem;
  • You have experience in web/mobile development and accessibility;
  • Experience with Firebase ecosystem (Custom events, remote configs, Crashlytics);
  • Experience with other component-driven libraries/frameworks and Hybrid Native approach;
  • Experienced in implementing prototypes and in practices and concepts such as MVP, A/B testing, and feature toggles for rolling-out features to production;
  • Experience with Design System and common UX patterns;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills;
  • Experienced in Cloud-based architectures (AWS / GCP);
  • Experienced in developing RESTful/GraphQL web services following the HTTP best practices;
  • You have well developed communication skills, you are capable of clearly articulate ideas when communicate to groups;
  • Advanced English skills and can clearly articulate ideas when speaking to groups in English.
