The Problems You'll Solve

You will be building and shaping our product solutions. In particular, you’ll be one of the key contributors in improving operational efficiency, building new features while capitalizing on standardized solutions. Working in close collaboration with both business and engineering teams within Carta, we navigate a unique and challenging product space that intersects with multiple domains including Cap Table Management, Fund admins and various other teams.

As one of the first few engineers on this team, you will play a key role in features for the foundational product. This is a collaborative effort across teams and disciplines. In this role you will:

  • Architect, design and code highly available, secure, and scalable financial platforms
  • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to translate design prototypes into high-quality, scalable code that is pixel-perfect and adheres to the company’s design system and branding guidelines.
  • Adhere to test-driven development (TDD), maintain high levels of code coverage and automation
  • Conduct timely and thoughtful peer code review
  • Leverage logging and monitoring of platforms to improve observability
  • Instrument system performance and business metrics
  • Mentor and grow junior developers

This will be a unique opportunity to have an impact not just within our product space, but also across teams within Carta.

The Team You'll Work With

The Investor Access team focuses on unlocking and enriching the connection between investors and the companies they invest in. We collaborate closely with some of the largest investment firms in the industry to understand their needs, and ensure that investors have timely and accurate access to investment data. Our goal is to manage and streamline access, providing investors with the information they need, when they need it.

Our team focuses on building robust systems to manage access rights, ensuring the security and integrity of sensitive investment information. We are committed to providing a seamless and intuitive user experience, both allowing companies to control their data sharing, and also allowing investors to effortlessly navigate their portfolios and stay updated on their investment performance.

In addition to improving data access, we continuously innovate to enhance the transparency and clarity of investment information. By leveraging advanced technologies and maintaining close collaboration with industry leaders, we aim to set new standards in investor relations and data management. Our ultimate goal is to support companies with clear control of their data, and investors in making well-informed decisions, fostering trust, and driving growth in the investment community.

About You

You deeply care about your user and are relentless in your pursuit to build enterprise grade applications. You are energized by solving deep problems collaboratively and can easily transition between a Solver and Tech Lead archetype. Additionally:

  • You have 3+ years of frontend or full-stack or frontend engineering experience
  • You have experience in architecting complex SaaS products with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices
  • You are passionate about some elements of our tech stack (ReactJS, Typescript, React Queries, Storybook, Amplitude, Ink (we invite you to check out our very own ink.carta.com))
  • You are excited to work with stakeholders across engineering, product, business and marketing
  • You have a desire to become a product domain expert and refine ambiguous product requirements to deliver customer value
  • You see communication as one of your strengths
  • You want to build and own your work end-to-end
  • You are eager to move fast, but recognize when to build for the future

Most importantly you're excited to work on a product that will fundamentally change the way private companies view liquidity.

The Interview Process

Our team believes that interviews are a two-way process and we strive to make them enjoyable without any “gotchas.” We do not do LeetCode-style interviews, no one will quiz you on writing a doubly-linked list :D

The interview process starts with a call with a member of our recruiting team who will tell you more about the job and the company. Then, you’ll meet the engineering lead, who will walk you through the specifics of the position, the team structure, what we’re looking for, and of course, answer any questions you will have. Then, there’s a technical programming interview where you’ll be working on a practical problem in the business in the language of your choice. Finally, we will schedule you for another four or five meetings with other team members to discuss everything from Carta’s culture to cross-team collaboration and what you can expect, and what is expected from you.

We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to providing a positive interview experience for every candidate. If accommodations due to a disability or medical condition are needed, please connect with the recruiter via email. As a company, we value fairness, helpfulness, transparency, leadership and build our teams around these values. Check out our careers page to get to know us better as you think about your next step at Carta.
