About the Team

DoorDash is building the world’s most reliable on-demand, logistics engine for delivery. As part of the Local Logistics team we are looking for Engineers who are excited about optimising the DoorDash platform for local markets. We are responsible for growing and managing Dasher fleets across the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This requires us to understand and adapt to the nuances of what makes each country, city and suburb unique in our mission to provide the best deliveries for customers.

About the Role

• Optimise how DoorDash can onboard and retain Dashers to deliver successfully in all global markets.
• Design and build tools to enable Market Managers to understand and react to local events, weather and market pressures.
• Work on developing, releasing, and running large-scale web applications. 
• Improve performance, reliability, scalability, and security of our backend systems.
• Design and build product features for customers as well as internal tools for DoorDash logistics.
• Join a dynamic team of Engineers, Product Managers and Designers based in Australia and globally.
• Help onboard and mentor other engineers as they join the team and grow in their careers.

We're excited about you because you have...

• 5+ years of industry experience.
• Experience with Service Oriented Architecture, writing REST APIs, Unit Testing and architectural design.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and other technologies (e.g. Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Proficiency with  languages used on the DoorDash backend tech stack including Python, Java or Kotlin.
• Understanding of modern web stacks and architecture (HTTP, GraphQL, REST).
• Ability to analyse and improve efficiency, scalability and stability of various system resources.
