Role Overview

ID.me is looking for a highly skilled Software Development Engineer V specializing in frontend development to join the Profiles team, responsible for the attribute lifecycle management experience of our 137M+ members. The team is tasked to model all member data into an identity graph, the foundation to our current customer success and future product growth. In addition, the team is enhancing the My Account experience, ensuring data retention compliance, and advancing our identity resolution capabilities. As an SDE V, you will be responsible for designing and developing related user experiences. You will play a key role in driving architectural decisions, implementing best practices, and mentoring junior engineers to enhance the overall frontend engineering capability at ID.me.

This role sits in Mountain View, CA and has an onsite component of 5 days per week onsite. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable and maintainable frontend solutions for ID.me's web applications.
  • Lead the development of high-quality, performant, and accessible user interfaces using modern frontend technologies.
  • Drive frontend best practices, including component reuse, performance optimization, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Optimize web applications for performance, security, and accessibility.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Stay current with emerging frontend technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team.
  • Contribute to the evolution of ID.me’s frontend architecture, ensuring long-term scalability and maintainability.
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend development.
  • Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Extensive experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular (React preferred).
  • Strong understanding of frontend performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with state management libraries such as Redux, MobX, or Zustand.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices for building inclusive web applications.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and GraphQL for frontend-backend integration.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) using frameworks like Next.js.
  • Familiarity with modern authentication and identity verification practices.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for frontend deployment.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, or government services.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of frontend work.

The annual base salary listed does not include a company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity and benefits which will be determined based on experience, skills, education, relevant training, geographic location and role.
