Job summary:

This role is to be an active part of the Managed Public Cloud software developer team globally. It will be responsible for designing and developing software for our hyperscaler cloud business. This team builds the stuff that runs our cloud for our customers. The work can range from services integrated with cloud providers to platforms for customer interaction to backend business systems.

As a member of this team, you’ll have a chance to contribute to Rackspace’s fastest growing and most complex systems on a range of technologies. You’ll see firsthand how cloud is being used by thousands of customers and get to build responsive, meticulously designed applications. We breathe modern technology into our internal platforms to show our customer’s how they need to build theirs.

Responsibilities

  • Working with Product to assess functional requirements for new product offerings, analyze the technical feasibility, and coordinate task assignments with agility to effectively deliver innovative software.
  • Implementing unit, integration, and smoke tests where appropriate
  • Developing code where deployments to production happen continuously.
  • Working in a heavily multi-cloud environment and comfortable working within different deployment environments.
  • Establishes and adheres to coding and process best practices, including code reviews.
  • Makes regular contribution to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Writes software using the best tool for the job, mixing open source and proprietary tech as relevant.
  • Writes and reviews design documents.
  • Participates in project discussions.
  • Working in a DevOps culture including teams on call rotation and maintenance schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Education or experience with either:
  • JavaScript development (ideally writing microservices in NodeJS with Express or similar framework and UI development in modern React).
  • OR
  • Python and/or Golang.
  • Experience or familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code through Terraform, CloudFormation a plus.
  • Experience with Git or other source control practices a plus.
  • Experience with Jenkins, CircleCI, Github Actions, or similar a plus.
  • Experience configuring logging, metrics, and monitoring a plus.
  • Experience with agile development (including TDD and code reviews).
  • Experience working in AWS using technologies a plus.
  • Solid oral/written English language skills.
  • Ability to work from home in self-directed fashion and with minimal supervision.
  • Solid team-work/collaboration skills and ability to deliver to tight deadlines and/or under pressure.
  • Solid understanding of or experience with cloud, containers and microservices.
  • Solid understanding of terraform or other IaaC tool.
  • Ability to derive causal relationships from ambiguous data
  • Ability to extend factual relationship to anticipate problems or opportunities.
  • Systematic and structured in problem solving approach.

- Role can work remotely in the states of Ciudad de Mexico, Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, Aguascalientes, Queretaro, Estado de Mexico and Puebla. You need to be based in Mexico at one of these locations.
