WHAT WILL YOU DO?  

Working in a fast-paced, customer facing SaaS environment where uptime is critical, you will develop and maintain innovative automation, tools, configurations, and systems. You'll be involved in challenging and impactful projects ensuring site reliability for our SaaS enterprise and achieving high-quality sustainable production results. We'll provide the opportunity for you to hone your skills in assessing the tradeoffs in installation, configuration, and diagnostics in open source Linux systems in a large-scale DevOps environment. 

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?  

  • Develop, prototype, and execute innovative SRE projects
  • Deploy Java and/or Node.js and/or other typical enterprise application frameworks and languages 
  • Develop and manage consistent and coherent SRE processes and practices to support software development, testing, builds and deployment
  • Guide and develop infrastructure and tools architecture design to ensure high uptime, minimize failures, ensure applications and data security, and expedite diagnostics
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve complex technical issues efficiently in a live production environment and drive to quick resolutions
  • Leverage technical events to improve current technology and processes and prevent future issues  
  • Work across the Engineering environment to escalate and/or triage issues to resolution
  • Review data from tickets and diagnostics to identify trends and chronic issues
  • Implement and upgrade tools for monitoring, trending, and diagnostics.  
  • Proactively monitor and audit all systems to detect and resolve problems and ensure uninterrupted operation of all infrastructure systems
  • Create and maintain documentation on installation process and configurations
  • Perform all work with security as the highest consideration
  • Implement and execute responsibilities with goal of full automation   

MUST HAVES   

  • US Citizen required
  • Bachelors in computer science or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience 
  • Understanding of cloud architecture concepts and practices  
  • Knowledge of architectural design patterns (immutable production, fail fast, stateless etc.)
  • Experience in application release management and configuration, upgrades/patches and support of Unix/linux systems (Node.js or similar in a SaaS environment)
  • Passion for problem-solving by troubleshooting, triage, and rapid resolution  
  • Ability to work independently and influence key stakeholders 
  • Excellent understanding of scalable, micro-service based architectures and applying them to real-world problems  
  • Ability to be a part of on-call escalation rotation and coordinate work under production critical situations
  • Knowledge of the use and maintenance of continuous integration and continuous deployment systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience working across organizations towards a common goal

  • Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and related open source software  
  • Automation using Ansible and terraform in a cloud environment  
  • Working knowledge of databases  
  • Networking fundamentals with Protocols, Load Balancers, VPN, switches/routers/firewalls, LDAP, SNMP, SMTP  
  • Understanding of filesystem technologies 
  • Knowledge of AWS or OpenStack, OpenShift, Google Cloud  
  • Apache, nginx, and haproxy  
  • Monitoring, trending and diagnostics tools  
  • Logging tools such as Splunk, ELK stack, etc.  
  • Source code control systems such as git (or similar)  
  • Work/defect tracking and Wiki systems such as JIRA / Confluence

The US base pay range for this position is $90,000 - $150,000. As this position is a remote position based anywhere in the US, the range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for the position across all potential US locations. Base pay within this range will be determined by factors such as work location, relevant experience and skills, and additional factors such as education, and training. During the hiring process, Bluescape's recruiting team will provide specific information on salary based on each applicant's background, location, and experience. Bluescape also offers a yearly bonus plan, equity program, and a comprehensive benefits package covering you and your family members.
