Senior System Administrator, Datacenter Operations

Mission: To be a trusted partner for the organization responsible for deploying and maintaining systems and servers in our data center, as well as networking and monitoring systems

Responsibilities & opportunities in this role:

  • Directly Responsible Individual for our Data Centers (DC) and operations
  • Install and maintain servers and other rack gear
  • System Administration tasks:
    • Installation of Linux systems via Puppet
    • Programing of network switches
    • Troubleshooting
    • Device and systems management
    • Automation of tasks and key systems
    • Documentation of tasks, procedures and infrastructure
    • Set up and configure software, hardware, and networks
  • Work closely with InfoSec and other departments to protect Groq’s infrastructure
  • Track inventory of spare parts, respond to tickets and general DC duties 
  • Provide remote support to AI techs 
  • Train entry-level and up employees
  • System Upgrades, upgrade systems and new releases and models
  • Maintain:
    • Technical support 
    • Manuals
    • IT policies
  • User support:
    • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to users and AI Techs

Ideal candidates have/are:

  • Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent professional experience required 
  • 8+ years of Linux System Administration 
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Networking Experience (DNS, DHCP, PXE, TCP/IP)
  • Experience writing/modifying code to improve monitoring and automation (e.g., Python, Shell Scripting, etc.) 
  • Employing security upgrades and protocols 
  • Troubleshooting and repairing systems and software as needed 
  • Professional experience with common configuration management tools (ansible, chef, puppet, foreman) 
  • Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment 
  • macOS and Linux System Administration experience
  • Detail Oriented and Highly Organized
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to work with external parties including vendors and customers
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve results
  • Flexibility working across multiple systems and contexts
  • Some travel is required, both US and international
  • Ability to move/rack gear up to 50 pounds

Compensation: At Groq, a competitive base salary is part of our comprehensive compensation package, which includes equity and benefits. For this role, the base salary range is $100,300 to $193,000, determined by your skills, qualifications, experience and internal benchmarks.

Location: Groq is a geo-agnostic company, meaning you work where you are. Exceptional candidates will thrive in asynchronous partnerships and remote collaboration methods. Some roles may require being located near our primary sites, as indicated in the job description.
