Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer (Security Team), you will be instrumental in the development and enhancement of diverse applications that support MongoDB’s Security Team. Your focus will be on creating web applications and dashboards, tailored for the Security Team organization with a particular focus on automation and asset inventory management. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire development lifecycle, including design, testing, and deployment, utilizing a wide range of technologies, with a special emphasis on modern web technologies like React, Typescript, and Node.js.

This role can be based out of our London office or remotely in the UK region.

Candidate Profile

The qualified candidate for this role should possess the following qualifications:

  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes seamlessly
  • Over 8 years of hands-on experience in building scalable and modern web applications
  • Over 2 years of hands-on experience building scalable and modern web applications using the MERN stack with Typescript
  • Demonstrable expertise with Node js and an API framework (Express, Next.js, Fastify, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of data structures, data modelling, and database schema
  • Good working knowledge of key software architecture concepts
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and CI/CD pipelines and mechanisms
  • Demonstrable experience applying security best practices such as principles of least privilege and defense-in-depth
  • Good working knowledge of software testing practices
  • Hands-on experience with unit testing (Cypress, Jest, Playwright, etc.)
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Demonstrable expertise with authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, SSO, certificate-based authentication, etc.)
  • Comfortable working within distributed teams
  • Candidates should possess a natural ability to take charge, make informed decisions, and guide their team

Nice to haves

  • Good working knowledge of software development with Python
  • Any of the relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, OSCP
  • Experience in developing robust and scalable applications using modern front-end technologies

What makes you stand out

  • Over 8 years of demonstrable full stack experience building web applications
  • Over 2 years experience with MERN stack with Typescript
  • Experience with security for GenAI-enabled applications and services

Success Measures

  • In 3 months, you've gained a deep understanding of the Security team ecosystem and build and deployment workflows
  • In 6 months, you are successfully contributing to our projects, including deploying code to production and taking on troubleshooting issues and resolving bugs
  • In 9 months, you are successfully leading all aspects of the technical development and design of our tech stack, as well as shaping the technical roadmaps for the team
  • In 12 months, you are successfully contributing to growing other team members
