As a Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) in the Online Payments Tribe, you’ll be part of the team supporting SumUp’s Business growth by providing a scalable, secure and global Online Payments Platform which will facilitate all Card not Present (CNP) transactions - meeting the Online Payments needs of our customers and enabling them to grow. 

We use Go, Kubernetes, Kafka, DynamoDB, Postgres, and Rest APIs. We are rebuilding our platform using the latest technology and we want you to help us raise the bar and drive these changes. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Design, implement and iteratively create backend services
  • Maintain and evolve the team core services
  • Participate in API design and implementation for both internal APIs and those exposed to our third-party integrators
  • Help your team deliver business value by making decisions related to the backend and actively participate in product discussions and code reviews with other engineers
  • Provide comprehensive documentation, good test coverage, and improve code quality
  • Collaborate with other software developers, and DevOps engineers to ensure smooth deployment, continuous integration and support for the software we deliver

 

This role will be great if you have the following:

  •  5+ years of experience as a backend engineer
  • Experience with Golang
  • Experience with AWS, and Kubernetes (as a user, not admin experience)
  • Experience with working with Terraform and Infrastructure as code (we manage our own infra and engineer create Terraform modules)
  • Experience with SNS, SQS, DynamoDB and Postgres - those are heavily used in our squad
  • Passion for having high test coverage and full CI/CD with many deployments per day

 

As a plus:

  • You have experience with distributed and fault-tolerant systems
  • Kafka, DynamoDB, and Postgres are not unknown to you
  • You have a DevOps mindset
