Senior Backend Engineer - Integration Platform

About the Senior Backend Engineer in Integrations Platform:

The Integrations Platform team is currently building a new customer data platform that will enable real-time data to be accessible to our user. The team is also part of the Platform Tribe and is responsible for building critical internal developer platforms for SumUp. 

As part of Integrations Platform, you will be building software systems that will empower CRM and Engineering teams to make data easily accessible. We want our users to focus on bringing value to our customers without worrying about the underlying infrastructure. 

To be successful in this role, you should be a product minded engineer who aims to improve the user experience of our stakeholders.

 

About the role & what you’ll do:

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for

• Designing, building and maintaining backend services in microservice architecture(s).
• Producing high quality streaming data via Kafka and maintain APIs using GraphQL and REST
• Building and maintaining highly available and reliable production systems
• Writing high-quality and scalable code that follows Platform standards and best practices.
• Communicating and collaborating directly with our stakeholders to identify their pain points and gather feature requests
• Working closely with Data Engineers and Software Engineers in the Data Platform and Infrastructure team

 

You’ll be great for this role if:

• You have experience working with software engineering on large scale systems (5+ years of full time work experience in Backend Engineering/Software Engineer)
• You are a polyglot engineer and have experience in 1 or more of our preferred languages (Go, Python, Java). Experience with Go is preferred. 
• You have prior experience in building and deploying infra using AWS, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform
• You have hands on experience using data streaming technologies like Kafka, Kafka Streams, Apache Spark, Apache Flink
• You have experience with user-facing analytics databases Apache Pinot, Apache Druid, Clickhouse
• You are passionate about creating Platform as a Service or Software as a Service applications
