About the team:

Xero’s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) Eventing team owns and supports the Confluent Cloud hosted Apache Kafka platform to facilitate high volume eventing within software engineering teams and across Xero domains.

You will be part of the Platform-as-a-Service group, which is a cross-functional agile infrastructure development team. Our goal is to provide platform solutions leveraging AWS to enable Xero’s product development teams to build and ship software in a fast, reliable and secure manner while minimising cognitive load on product development teams.

The PaaS Eventing Platform is at the heart of this objective. The work our Eventing team does in owning and supporting our Confluent Cloud Eventing Platform is critical to the rapid global growth we are experiencing.

We want to make it extremely easy for Xero’s product teams to publish, discover and consume events via our eventing platform. For us, it’s about building strong partnerships with our eventing platform consumers - to learn and evolve our platform for ease of use, in order to make data the central nervous system of Xero. We’re looking to grow our Eventing team to really bring this vision to life. Join us - you’ll have a front row seat, plenty of room to grow and a committed team behind you.

In the PaaS Eventing team, you’ll be working with Confluent Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes, GitHub, Terraform and languages such as: C#, Python and Golang.

What you'll bring with you:

Familiarity with Apache Kafka, including data integration techniques.
Experience with Confluent will be a bonus.
Understanding of cloud technologies and experience with CI/CD systems.
Understanding of containerisation technologies.
Experience writing APIs and infrastructure-as-code.
Experience of modern product and engineering principles and practices.
Great communication skills
Growth mindset with a love of experimentation and learning
Being a great team member, including the ability to work with others and navigate areas of conflict in an open, positive and proactive way.
