Our Calibration, Localization, and Mapping (CLAMS) team is responsible for building the algorithms and tools necessary for keeping Zoox vehicles well calibrated, always knowing where they’re located within the world, and aware of their environment. Without precise calibration, localization, and mapping our vehicles would be at a disadvantage when it comes to perceiving and reasoning about the surrounding world, and is therefore foundational in enabling results from many other teams across Zoox. This work is critical for scaling autonomous driving in a safe and reliable way. We are looking for engineers who are ambitious and excited about helping Zoox deliver on its goals to deliver autonomous mobility.

The Fiducial Calibration team:
Designs and implements fiducial-based calibration processes for manufacturing and post-maintenance recalibration, reducing end-to-end calibration time. Assists in the validation of data quality from candidate sensors. Provides ground-truth reference calibrations to be compared with results from an unstructured calibration algorithm.

  • Short and long term strategy
  • Execution of planned projects.
  • The manager is also expected to participate part-time as an individual contributor as a secondary priority to management duties.
  • The manager of this team will report to the Manager of Calibration and will participate in the development of the overall Calibration organization’s roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • At least 10 years of industry experience developing software
  • At least 2 years of engineering management experience
  • Fluency in C++
