Machine Learning Systems Engineer, Ads ML Platform

Ads is the fuel that powers Reddit’s mission to bring community, belonging, and empowerment to everyone in the world. The Ads Foundations org, groups the platform teams required to run the offline & online operations of all the Ads Marketplace teams and beyond. This job is for the new team being formed called: Ads Infrastructure, main charter being the design, build, and maintenance of highly scalable & reusable components for ML serving & training, Testing/Loading infra, Dev & Model experimentation velocity, and other horizontal infra pieces. 

We are looking for a software engineer to join us to build and scale our Ads ML Infra. Your team will be focused on three key areas:

• Inference Server for the hot path – to be able to optimize our ranking efforts to optimize for our Advertisers objectives
• ML Serving for batch, offline, and experimentation phases – To ensure our ML Modeling teams can focus on their business objectives and can rely on a stable and consistent ML serving infrastructure.
• ML Training & Features pipelines – To consolidate the current efforts converging to SOTA and reusable systems in strong collaboration with our company wide ML Platform teams

Responsibilities

• Build and scale distributed systems, with low latency and high volume
• Design end-to-end technical solutions to customer problems
• Partner and lead other engineers in implementing your technical designs
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive solutions    

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands on experience and deep understanding of infrastructure, especially on scaling and optimization
• 2+ years of hands on experience with ML operations at scale (inference, training, feature serving) ideally using well-known frameworks
• Experience in building and scaling infrastructure powering ads, recommendation, search, or other distributed systems.
• Significant experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (Go, Java, Scala, C++, Python)
• Deep expertise in Backend engineering, distributed systems, databases, etc
