Library Software Engineer - Node.js

Datadog is building a world-class Dynamic Instrumentation / Live Debugging product. We are looking for an expert Node.js developer who can help build our JavaScript debugging experience. Come and join us to build amazing open-source software. At Datadog, Client Library Open-Source Engineers are language and runtime experts that focus on building our OSS monitoring libraries. Our Dynamic Instrumentation Client Libraries team is building an exciting, brand new product that helps developers quickly troubleshoot and diagnose bugs and performance issues in complex distributed systems - bringing code-level observability into the hands of every developer. We're investing heavily in experiences that allow developers to dynamically instrument their applications and perform live debugging, in production, with the smallest possible performance overhead and rock-solid reliability. What You’ll Do: 

• Write open-source code that instruments thousands of Node applications around the world, and change the way they approach troubleshooting in production.
• Drive our open-source Node projects and engage with the community to find and fix the most important challenges

 

Who You Are: 

• You’re a master Node programmer.
• You are a great community ambassador and can drive hard technical conversations towards a good solution
• You want to work in a fast, high growth startup environment that respects its engineers and customers
• You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience

 

Bonus points:

• You feel comfortable navigating around the v8 code base
• You have experience with code instrumentation (at the syntax or bytecode level) 
• You are familiar with the v8 Inspector Protocol
• You have significant experience with Python, Go, Javascript, Ruby or PHP
