As a frontend engineer, you’ll develop the web-app capabilities of our platform to help our customers build the most complex content architectures. Working with the latest frontend technologies, you’ll directly impact the outcome of our tens of thousands of users, solving the content problems of tomorrow using our platform.

Our frontend apps are web apps built with React and Typescript. We build other frontend apps using our form36 component library and proprietary Contentful App Framework. You’ll join a world-class team of engineers, solving the most complex problems of today and tomorrow in a rich engineering culture shaping the future of the industry.

What to expect?

As a Frontend Engineer, you will work on a complex, modular user interface where API design, application architecture, and application state management are the main challenges. As a cross-functional team member, you’ll work side by side with other backend and full-stack engineers. You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of technologies and approaches that are not limited to frontend development but will also give you a comprehensive grasp of the entire product. In this role, you will:

• Advance the capabilities of our frontend web applications
• Work closely with the designers, product managers on determining the roadmap
• Help breakdown complex work into deliverables working closely with cross-functional team members
• Participate in the selection process of technologies and services that Contentful will adopt
• Deliver polished experiences with attention to detail to tens of thousands of active Contentful users
• Balance the pyramid of scope, timeline, quality, costs while focussing on delivering value to our customers
• If you are based in Berlin,  you’ll be in the office one day per week.

What do you need to be successful?

• Strong expertise with JavaScript including stateful Single Page Apps, asynchronous programming, Promises, ES6
• Strong expertise with browser APIs and optimizing front end performance
• Solid knowledge of React framework
• Knowledge of Typescript is a big plus
• Experience with unit and integration testing of browser-based Javascript
• Knowledge of the server-side JavaScript ecosystem (Node.js)
• Knowledge of functional programming principles is a plus
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbally and written (German is not required)
