About the Job: 

The Growth team drives the trajectory of the business’s leads and revenue by inflecting its top-of-funnel acquisition and trial activation. We own and define the first impression of LaunchDarkly to new users, ensuring that every user feels successful, supported and delighted. We showcase the cutting-edge strengths of LaunchDarkly’s industry-leading technology—such as Guardian, Experimentation, and AI—through a seamless product experience.

Our Growth Engineers are data-driven, experimental, entrepreneurial, and open-minded to creating new opportunities to drive growth. As a member of the Growth Team, your work will directly impact time to first value (aka getting the user to their first “wow” moment). You will work on a cross-functional team that collaborates closely with product, marketing, and data teams to identify growth opportunities and drive impactful experiments. You’ll bring a strong attention to detail to make a product that is easy and delightful to use the first and every time.

Example projects include: trial onboarding, interactive demos that allow users to explore product features experiences, upsell experiences, and signup/activation optimizations.

Metrics that your work on Growth Team will positively impact:

  • Self-service conversion rates of users from trials

  • Percent of accounts who get to their first flag evaluation during trial

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with product managers, marketing teams, and data scientists to understand business goals, identify growth opportunities, and build user-facing features that drive product growth.

  • Lead the development of frontend experiments aimed at improving user engagement, acquisition, and retention.

  • Use data and insights to guide the development of growth features, implementing changes that directly impact the user experience and overall product success.

  • Take full ownership of the design, development, and delivery of user-facing features, ensuring high performance, scalability, and seamless integration with backend systems. You’ll create dynamic and responsive web interfaces that elevate the overall user experience.

  • Provide guidance on frontend architecture decisions, ensuring best practices are followed. Assess various technical trade-offs in experimentation to optimize for both performance and user engagement.

  • Bring deep expertise in frontend development to influence product strategy and direction.

  • Participate in discussions with product and marketing teams to develop innovative ideas that drive business growth through product-led initiatives.

  • Work on a wide range of problems, using your expertise to analyze complex data and evaluate multiple factors that inform frontend solutions.

  • You’ll resolve issues creatively and efficiently while improving and refining frontend components to meet evolving customer and business needs.

  • Ensure the quality and reliability of the product through the development of comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

  • Participate in code reviews to uphold high standards of code quality across the team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with client-side web development (React, React Query, and Typescript)

  • A commitment to working in a communicative and collaborative environment

  • You enjoy working in quick iterations while keeping the quality bar high

  • You write clear, maintainable code that others can easily understand

  • You strive for high standards when working with production systems

  • You prioritize code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices.

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level 3:

  • Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or NYC Metropolitan Area: $167,000 - $208,700**
  • Zone 2: Boston, DC, Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Seattle: $150,000 - $187,800**
  • Zone 3: All other US locations: $141,900 - $177,400**

LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

*Within the United States, our geographic pay zones are defined by counties surrounding major metropolitan areas.
**Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.
