Role Overview

As the Engineering Manager - UI, you will oversee the design and development of intuitive, scalable, and visually appealing user interfaces. You will lead a team of skilled engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality UI experiences for our customers. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a deep technical understanding of front-end technologies, strong leadership skills, and a passion for driving UI excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of front-end engineers, fostering growth and development.
Define and drive the UI architecture, ensuring it is scalable, maintainable, and performant.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineering teams to deliver seamless user experiences.
Maintain high code quality standards, promoting best practices in JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
Ensure timely delivery of features while balancing technical debt and team productivity.
Drive continuous improvement in UI development processes, tools, and frameworks.
Stay updated with industry trends and integrate modern front-end practices into the team.
Conduct regular code reviews, technical discussions, and team retrospectives.

Requirements

Experience: 10-14 years of overall experience in software development, with at least 3-5 years in front-end engineering and 2+ years in a leadership role.
Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in React.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable, reusable front-end architecture.
Solid understanding of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
Experience with modern front-end build tools and frameworks (e.g., Webpack, Vite).
Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and collaborating with design teams.
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

Exposure to TypeScript and testing frameworks like Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
Experience in leading geographically distributed teams.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integrating front-end workflows into DevOps processes.
Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.

Work Location

Bangalore. The successful candidate will be expected to be in the Bangalore office 3x / week.
