About the role
We are looking for a brilliant Engineering Manager to join our incredibly talented engineering team and work on one of the most challenging and interesting products in PayU, the Treasury. Treasury is responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars moving between PayU and merchants every day. You will design and build our cloud-based products. You will face challenges in performance, scalability And availability in a cloud-based environment with cutting edge technologies. This is a truly unique engineering position. It puts you in charge of the engineers you will lead, the product you will work on and all aspects of the development lifecycle.

What you'll do:

  • Lead 10-15 extremely talented engineers who work in numerous teams (2-4 teams)
  • Be part of our engineering management team, help design not only the product you will focus on, but also other groups' products and our engineering culture.
  • Be responsible on the personal development of the team leads in your group and the engineers.
  • Face challenges of scale performance, security and resilience.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and product managers to build roadmaps and requirements.
  • Build a 100% cloud-native containerized distributed system for 99.999% availability.


You may fit this role if you...

  • You are hands-on and quick learner who is not afraid to jump into the existing eco system.
  • You believe in "if you want to go fast go alone if you want to go far go together".
  • Experience in mentoring engineers and an interest in doing so.
  • Would like to take a significant role in designing our engineering organization culture.
  • Design and work with distributed system concepts like parallel Processing, consistency, replication, and scalability.
  • Have strong programming skills in at least one of the following Languages - Go, Node.js, Scala, Java, or Python.
  • You know most our tech stack which includes Kubernetes, Istio, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Cassandra and Redis.
  • Believe that an excellent API matters.
  • When you see something broken, you can't sleep until it's fixed.
  • Have an urge to deliver and iterate quickly.
  • Keen to inspire, share knowledge, and push others to get the maximum out of the team.
  • Have strong English communication skills.
