As an ELK Engineer, you play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our cloud-based systems. Your primary responsibility is to design and implement and manage robust monitoring solutions using the ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana) stack. By leveraging your expertise, you empower our teams to proactively identify issues, optimize performance, and enhance overall system health.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Monitoring Solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand monitoring requirements.
  • Architect and deploy Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana components to monitor both overlay and underlay cloud blocks.
  • Create comprehensive monitoring strategies covering infrastructure, applications, and services.
  • Configure and Manage Logstash Pipelines
  • Set up Logstash pipelines to ingest data from diverse sources (logs, metrics, events).
  • Optimize pipeline performance, handle data transformations, and ensure efficient data flow.
  • Create Data Visualizations and Dashboards
  • Leverage Kibana’s capabilities to build intuitive visualizations and dashboards.
  • Provide actionable insights to stakeholders through well-designed charts, graphs, and metrics.
  • Enhance Security Measures
  • Implement robust security practices within the ELK stack.
  • Ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability during transmission and storage.
  • Address authentication, authorization, and encryption requirements.

Skill & Experience

  • Elasticsearch Expertise
  • In-depth understanding of Elasticsearch indexing, search, and aggregation.
  • Familiarity with cluster management, shard allocation, and data replication.
  • Logstash Configuration
  • Hands-on experience setting up and configuring Logstash pipelines.
  • Proficiency in handling data transformation, filtering, and enrichment.
  • Kibana Proficiency
  • Ability to create compelling visualizations using Kibana.
  • Knowledge of dashboard design principles and best practices.
  • Security Awareness
  • Understanding of ELK stack security mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of SSL/TLS, role-based access control (RBAC), and secure communication.
  • Automation Skills
  • Scripting proficiency (Python, Bash, etc.) for automating ELK stack tasks.
  • Desire to optimize processes and enhance scalability.
  • ITSM and Log Management
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) practices.
  • Experience handling logs effectively for troubleshooting and auditing.
