Headway’s mission is a big one – to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.
1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice.
Headway was founded in 2019. Since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 34,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software. We’re a Series D company with over $325m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures and Health Care Service Corporation.
We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.
Building a new mental healthcare system at Headway is only possible because of the scale and leverage that software can provide. The engineering team at Headway is a small (~85) but mighty team using technology to build that future (and have a fun time while doing it!).
There is a lot that we're building at Headway, but a patient's experience is at the crux of Headway’s mission of making mental healthcare more accessible and affordable for everyone. In the next act of our company, after closing our Series-D funding round, we have a massive opportunity to power product growth and build software that delights 1M+ unique Patients, improves our integrations, increases cost effective conversion for our insurance ("Payer") customers, all without disrupting the delightful user experiences of our 34K+ active Providers.
In this first-of-function leadership role, you'll work closely with Product and Business leaders as well as your engineering teams to define, build and lead the growth of Patient experiences and user-facing products at Headway. As the engineering leader for the Patient-side of our marketplace, you'll be responsible for establishing and growing a new set of Engineering pods through hiring, people development, and strategic planning. You get to play a founding role in setting up how the teams operate, defining what and how they build, and ultimately drive best-in-class user experiences that have a measurable impact on our business objectives. You’ll be responsible for building and scaling systems that help our patients match with the right providers and gain access to timely mental healthcare, while accelerating our engineering activities and ensuring optimal experiences for our engineering organization. Your teams will be highly cross functional, working intimately with partners from product, design, data, customer success, growth, clinical, and other internal teams to understand the needs of our Patient users and their care journeys on Headway.
We’re looking for product-minded engineering team leaders who are relationship-obsessed, drive results and enable their teams to build for technical excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, mission-aligned engineering leader to make an immediate impact on our rapidly scaling engineering team.
