Position Overview

The Diligent Data Science Team is a small, multidisciplinary team comprised of data scientists, data analysts, and knowledge and content engineers. We work closely with Technology teams to maintain the performance of our models in production, and with Product teams to develop new data-based solutions. We maintain and control a news intelligence product, and supply data to multiple other products via API.

As a Data Scientist, you will report to the Director, Software Engineering. You will have to maintain and monitor our current Natural Language Processing and Forecasting ML models in production; improve the precision and recall of our current Named Entity Recognition algorithm and our supervised ML models; and expand our current news analytics feature set to include risk metrics extracted from a combination of unique ESG datasets, including shareholder activism, stakeholder engagement, carbon accounting, regulatory policies, and corporate disclosures. You will work closely with product managers, data scientists and machine learning engineers to nourish a unique data intelligence platform to inform the C-suite and board of impending ESG risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Improve current supervised ML model’s precision and recall by conducting feature engineering and leveraging transformer-based architectures in AWS Sagemaker.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis of ESG datasets to uncover patterns that inform risk metrics.
  • Utilize these ESG risk patterns to develop data products.
  • Maintain and monitor models and algorithms in production.

Required Experience/Skills

  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in the workplace with Python and SQL.
  • Ability to solve problems independently with a US-based team. This involves being willing to adjust to US working hours 3 days per week.
  • Ability to dive into complex scripts and comprehend them autonomously.
  • Ability to combine datasets coming from different platforms.
  • Passionate about uncovering patterns across ESG datasets using data mining methodologies while keeping client impact top of mind.

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services.
  • Experience with Python Django and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with NLP such as word2vec, LSTMs, or transformer-based models; and with training supervised Machine Learning classifiers, ideally in TensorFlow and Keras, or PyTorch.
