About the Role: 

TuSimple’s Human Machine Interface (HMI) Team is searching for a Software Development Engineer to work on various back-end projects. You will be developing and maintaining modules such as vehicle systems, embedded systems, simulation systems, and mapping. Your work ensures our algorithm scientists’ research can be successfully transformed into virtual driver software, and then easily deployed on the truck.

You will also collaborate with engineers from different teams to optimize the backend systems to make sure they are efficient, robust and scalable. 

What You Will Do: 

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and deploy software modules in autonomous driving systems, and/or in related platform and tools software.
  • Responsible for integrating multiple modules and systems into one platform
  • Developing and maintaining key integrating tools and monitoring performance 

 

What You Will Need: 

  • Ability to work in TuSimple’s San Diego Office at least three days per week.
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related major is needed. 
  • At least 2 years of experience in developing production-quality software in Python, C or C++
  • Experience with web frameworks such as Flask, Django.
  • Experience with cloud services, such as AWS
  • Good understanding of containers, build systems, and infrastructure automation
  • Solid knowledge of operating system, distributed system, and networking

What Is Preferred: 

  • Master’s Degree or PhD is highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience in Autonomous Driving or Robotics is also preferred. 
  • Familiar with Linux environment and multi-threaded/multi-process programming
  • Development experiences in robotics middleware such as ROS
  • Hands-on experiences in performance profiling, analysis, and optimization

Salary Range
$128,000$160,000 USD
