  • Optimize backend code and APIs for speed, efficiency, and scalability, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  • Partner closely with the Senior Web Manager to troubleshoot and debug backend issues, upholding high standards for quality and reliability.
  • Maintain security best practices across all backend development and deployment activities.
  • Write clean, reusable, and well-documented backend code; participate in code reviews and champion adherence to engineering standards.
  • Stay current on emerging backend technologies and tools; make recommendations for adoption, build buy-in, and create novel solutions that deliver measurable business or technical value.

You are a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining backend systems that support modern JavaScript frameworks such as Next.js and React.
  • Hands-on experience with headless CMS platforms (Storyblok or similar) and integrating them with frontend applications via RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based deployment and hosting platforms, particularly Vercel, and experience managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of backend security best practices and the ability to apply them consistently in development and deployment.
  • A track record of writing clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, with experience participating in collaborative code review processes.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Experience working within a marketing or growth-focused web environment, with an understanding of how backend systems contribute to site performance and conversion.
  • Familiarity with GitHub-based workflows and version control best practices in a collaborative engineering team.
  • Ability to identify and champion new technology adoption with a business case mindset.
