Who we are.
BoomPop is on a mission to bring people together. We believe every human needs a sense of belonging to feel fulfilled. And since we all spend at least ⅓ of our lives at work, we decided to make it insanely easy to bring teams together IRL, in a remote world.

We launched with amazing hosted virtual events, and quickly expanded to IRL (think: offsites, retreats, client summits, annual kickoffs) as well as a single platform that makes it easy for any company to manage everything in one place. Although we’re barely over 2.5yrs old, we have over 4,500 clients (Google, Apple, Netflix, Nike, Accenture) and have brought over 150,000 people together so far. And we’re just getting started.

Corporate group travel (think: offsites, kickoffs, sales events) - is the future.
Companies from Airbnb to Salesforce to Shopify to Reddit are adopting the new mantra: “Offsites are the new office.” Companies around the world need help bringing their teams (and clients) together and our goal is to make planning a company kickoff, client summit, or retreat as easy as buying products on Amazon. Watch. Us. Do. It. (Or actually, come help.)

Group travel pre-pandemic was already 40% of the $800B corporate travel industry and it’s absolutely exploding as companies shift facilities spend to IRL events (by the way, 73% of BoomPop clients are managers planning events for the first time in their careers … which shouldn’t be their job.)

Who are YOU?
We’re looking for extraordinary people to add to our team, shape our culture, and solidify our leadership position in this massive $500+ billion market. BoomPop was born out of Atomic, Silicon Valley’s foremost venture studio known for launching Hims & Hers, Openstore, Bungalow, and more, and is backed by ACME (fka Sherpa Capital, behind Uber, Airbnb, Facebook, Astra) and great angel investors like Aaron Levie, CEO of Box. The BoomPop team is made up of industry veterans coming from Google X, Apple, Square, Opendoor, and more.

The Role:
Reporting into the CEO, we're looking for a VP, Engineering to join our founding leadership team and bring exceptional management and technical skills to our growing team of developers and data scientists. Your primary focus is your team and the people in it, and we expect you to build a great culture that ships high-quality, high-impact code at a staggering pace. :) You’ll guide the team’s daily work and our technology selection as we scale.

What You'll Do:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a growing world-class engineering team.
  • Serve as a technical visionary for where we’re going and how it can positively impact the world
  • Recruit top engineering talent, including sourcing, selecting and selling candidates.
  • Serve as the engineering team’s voice to help steer the strategy and direction of the company.
  • Design, develop and roadmap scalable, reliable, performant and extensible architectures and technical designs.
  • Cultivate a strong, transparent and collaborative engineering culture.
  • Track key productivity metrics and continually work towards improving team efficiency and engineering capacity.
  • Establish new strategies and policies to promote engineering excellence.

What You Have:

  • 7+ years experience building great software or data science products and leading teams
  • At least 3 years in a management role.
  • At least 3 years in a lead engineering role and having direct reports is a plus.
  • Deep experience with python, functional language programming, cloud infrastructure management. Experience with machine learning, NLP and neural networks is a plus.
  • Proven ability to efficiently manage all aspects of the software development life cycle. A record of successfully managing distributed teams.
  • Strong operational bent; ability to drive a team to get more done than they ever thought possible.
  • Desire to work at a startup! This means things change quickly, and you’re comfortable with that.
  • Track record of leading engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable technical solutions that solve product/business requirements.
  • Track record of growing engineering teams by identifying key roles and recruiting talented engineers.
