About The Team:

You will be joining CookUnity’s Marketplace Zone, which focuses on creating a seamless and scalable platform connecting chefs with consumers. This team emphasizes innovation, reliability, performance, and scalability, working closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Operations to deliver world-class experiences for chefs and customers. 

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our Marketplace Zone, where you will be embedded within a feature team and work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product and Design, to deliver high-impact mobile experiences. In addition to your work on the feature team, you will take on the leadership of the Mobile Guild, driving the growth of a strong community of mobile engineers across CookUnity. You'll be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in mobile development, establishing best practices, and leading initiatives focused on the performance, quality, and developer experience of our mobile platform. Your role will be pivotal in helping the company successfully transition to a mobile-first organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the migration of native iOS and Android apps to Flutter, developing and executing the migration plan.
  • Lead the Mobile Guild, building a strong community of mobile engineers across various teams, and driving initiatives around the performance, quality, and developer experience of our mobile platform.
  • Contribute to feature development by working directly on mobile features.
  • Play a key role in the organizational shift to becoming mobile-first.
  • Work closely with Product and Design teams to deliver seamless and user-friendly mobile experiences.
  • Mentor and coach mobile engineers on best practices, Flutter development, and mobile craftsmanship, helping them transition from native to Flutter.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for mobile development, including code quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Drive collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the team to improve development workflows and mobile development best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of development experience with Dart and Flutter.
  • Proficiency in iOS development, with demonstrated experience in building and maintaining iOS applications.
  • Experience migrating native mobile apps to Flutter.
  • Strong mentorship skills and a passion for helping engineers grow and learn.
  • Track record of collaborating with Product and Design teams to architect, prioritize, and deliver impactful mobile features.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional initiatives and build strong relationships with other teams.
  • Deep understanding of mobile development best practices, architecture, and performance optimization.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience leading engineering community of practices or guilds
  • Experience with e-commerce mobile apps
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
