Position Overview

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and developing an engineering team, typically responsible for a layer of our new comprehensive Data & Intelligence Platform. This includes contribution to defining new standards, best practices, architectural decisions. Also planning and directing the work of software engineers, monitoring their work, setting clear, measurable goals, addressing roadblocks, and clearing the way. He / she works with employees on career development plans. Displays excellent knowledge of the field with strong leadership skills; can resolve critical and complex issues; contributes to business unit/area development. Works cross-functionally with other leaders around the company to resolve challenges and propose improvements to existing processes. Owns the technical roadmap, prioritization of development activities, and scoping out work with Product Managers. Works closely with directors on departmental issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help laying down the foundations of the Data Platform and maintain high level of standards
  • Collaborate closely with all Data pillars to optimize the delivery and reliability of the ecosystem
  • Lead, support, and inspire team members to perform at a high professional level
  • Own technical delivery for features and technical enhancements for the engineering team
  • Collaborate often and effectively with our product management and user experience groups to ensure the team is building the right things with high quality that will delight our customers
  • Anticipate, identify, assess, track, and mitigate project risks and issues
  • Contributing to the quality assurance/testing strategy

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 10 or more years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in leadership or management
  • Full-stack engineer background with a proven track record of building and supporting SaaS based commercial products
  • Ability to enable autonomous teams
  • Resourceful and fast learner of new technologies and methods
  • Experience with AWS is required, Terraform is a plus
  • Experience building and using Rest web services
  • Experience with microservice architecture
  • Experience with big data concepts is a big plus
  • Contributions to open-source projects and involvement in local meetups are a plus
  • You are fluent in English and you are not afraid of working in an agile environment.
  • Experience in People Management, mentoring, coaching
  • Self-directed positive problem solver
  • Excellent written and oral communications
  • Successfully manage own workload, and take personal responsibility and ownership for delivery, behaviors, and self-improvement
