About the job

We are looking for an outstanding Backend Engineer to join the Platform Observability team, which is at the core of Twilio's Response & Reliability strategy. This team is building the next-gen services and tooling for the observability of systems and services performance to all Twilions.

This role will help to migrate and transform observability stacks in legacy applications to next-gen observability stacks. You will be a member of a scrum team who will design, implement, own and transform SRE services end to end through automation, testing and instrumentation aimed at ensuring Twilio products achieve the health and performance our customers deserve. If you like hard scaling problems, architecting for resilience and managing customer experience through SLOs then the Observability Team will feel like home

You will be working closely with the Architect & Product Manager and will have the opportunity to influence the roadmap priorities, propose innovative solutions to solve the exciting technical challenges. Members you will work with will be distributed in the USA and Asia Pacific.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

Architect, build, test, deploy and maintain a Twilio observability stack. Demonstrate your software engineering skills to build the future of observability for Twilio’s globally distributed, highly available products and services.
Lead the transformation of Legacy Java based SRE stacks into the ongoing developed next-gen Observability stacks which will cover internal customers requirements.
Partner with Twilio’s platform engineering teams to provide the best possible usage experience, documentation and self-service for our customers.
Build mission critical tooling to triage and mitigate incidents quickly for our customers.

Qualifications

Required:

9+ years of software development experience including 3+ years leading the development of highly scalable distributed architectures.
Proven experience writing production-grade code in Java.
Experience in developing and managing systems and services including technologies like RESTFul APIS, MySQL and DynamoDB, Devops, CICD and other AWS services.
Solid understanding of automation mechanisms, leveraging existing tools to ensure stable, clean, well-tested code gets deployed to production through CI/CD Pipelines.
Experience in container technologies - Docker/Kubernetes.
Passion for identifying bottlenecks and refactoring the code while meeting the Definition of Done
A faster learner who can quickly pick up new technologies.
A highly effective collaborator, you work well with your team and your partners in product and design towards common goals.
Passion for mentoring and guiding other engineers within the area.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Desired:

Experience with maintaining and operating highly available cloud services.
Experience with frontend technologies such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS.

This role will be based in our Bengaluru, India office
