As a platform team, we empower Machine Learning Engineers with robust tools and infrastructure, enabling them to efficiently run, monitor, and evaluate experiments. By streamlining the ML experimentation process, we accelerate AI development and deployment across Box’s ecosystem.

Beyond AI innovation, our team is also responsible for maintaining mission-critical, event-driven systems that track user activity in real time. These systems provide valuable insights that power Box’s security, compliance, and analytics capabilities, ensuring a seamless and intelligent content management experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO? 

• You will play a key role in architecting and developing the next generation of messaging systems at Box, as well as work across our existing services to deliver new features and variety of tech stacks to improve infrastructure and developer efficiency
• Implement new services and use cases while phasing out the old ones
• Provide guidance to client engineering teams on how best to take advantage of our near-real-time interfaces
• Drive wider adoption of our near-real-time interfaces across engineering by identifying compatible use cases
• Develop and implement initiatives to ensure our systems consistently meet availability, performance, and reliability SLOs

WHO YOU ARE:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field
• 2+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong understanding of common algorithms, data structures and code design principles
• Strong grasp of high-scale distributed systems
• Familiarity with Java, MySQL, Pub/Sub, BigQuery
• Passionate about database scale and performance challenges
• Strong sense of ownership, persistence and drive, strong communication

Box lives its values, with community and in-person collaboration being a core part of our culture. Boxers are expected to work from their assigned office a minimum of 2 days per week, with a focus on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
