This team is responsible for development of new vehicle introduction programs, ensuring the integration of the vehicle, autonomous driving system, and commercial operations come together and integrate seamlessly. As a Systems Engineer on the Safety and Systems team, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Program Managers, Hardware and Software Engineers, Systems Engineers, as well as Operations, Legal and Security teams to drive success towards the major initiatives. For new vehicle introduction, you will own the highest level of systems engineering and will lead requirements, analysis, and rolling lessons from previous programs forward to new programs. You will also navigate uncharted territory in how to evaluate and test fail-operation absent a human controlling a vehicle and how best to quantify success.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Decompose top-level system functions, behaviors and features into a set of requirements that specify the expected end-to-end system and driving behavior.
Ensure that the respective Requirement Documents are necessary and sufficient to fulfill the goal of a safe, legal and responsible autonomous product
Communicate early and often with partner teams, document the requirements and decisions, hold reviews
Develop and maintain clear development pipelines, workflows and dashboards for these functions, and partner closely with the development teams on the most effective way to engineer driving behaviors
Define a verification plan and test methods for the function or behavior, at the integrated system level, that verifies the end-to-end implementation of the function
Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities
Develop/update new systems engineering processes
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
BS, MS, or PhD in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field
6+ years of postgraduate experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, project management or other related fields
Industry experience in system engineering and requirements management including system analysis, requirements authoring, test generation, and validation activities
1+ years of industry experience leading small teams
Ability to understand complex technical systems
Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity
Prioritize while maintaining the tasks at hand
Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills
Consistent track record of successful systems engineering for a safety-critical product
Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DNG, DOORS, etc.)
Industry experience coding in Python
The salary range for this position is $139,000 - $204,300. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
