Senior Software Engineer - Library and Video Repurposing

Live streaming is a great medium for storytelling – and telling great stories benefits everyone. Whether you’re a creator, content marketer, entrepreneur, or just someone with something to say, live streaming is an exciting and effective way to spread your message.

But live streaming tools are very complicated. You shouldn’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a computer, or learn about encoding, just to start live streaming. The world misses out on so many great creators because of these barriers.

Dan and Geige thought there should be a streaming tool that anyone could use – a tool that was fun instead of stressful – a tool that was simple, but powerful enough to create engaging content. We wanted people who weren’t techy, or who simply didn’t want to deal with the hassle of streaming, to still go live, share their stories, and grow their own communities.

Geige and Dan built StreamYard with three things in mind and continue to focus on these pillars today. The three StreamYard pillars include

StreamYard is built on those pillars. Our users tell us that StreamYard makes streaming fun – you can quickly create engaging content with guests, show on screen comments/lower thirds, and brand your broadcasts with themes, overlays, and backgrounds. You don’t need to know anything about technology or streaming to get started. And even though StreamYard is simple, techy folks love how powerful it is under the hood, and how effective it is for streaming group discussions.

The Role and Team

The Library team looks after everything a creator can do with their content once it has been streamed or recorded, if you have ever wondered what's next after the stream finishes, the library team has you covered. This includes anything from video editing to publishing your content to YouTube, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels and Facebook Reels. Repurposing your content and growing your community has never been so easy. The team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a preference for working on the backend, we use Typescript as our language of choice and host our solution on GCP. You will have worked on hard problems before and be eager to again. 

About You

• Expert knowledge of Node.js
• Fluent in Javascript or Typescript syntax
• Experience taking ownership of difficult engineering challenges and delivering solutions that delight customers.
• Self-starter, with a strong sense of ownership with a track record of delivering projects on time meeting high quality standards
• Experience working within a startup environment building and maintaining SAAS products running 24/7 on the cloud
• Able to be on call 1 weekend per month 
• Strong understanding of different software development practices and how each can help ship more value to our customers
• Passion for clean and appropriately tested code
• Any experience of video technologies would be highly desirable but it by no means essential.

• Eastern Tome + 2 to Eastern time - 1 

The Interview Process

• 30 - 45 minutes screening call with a Recruiter
• 60 minutes Interview with the Hiring Manager
• 90 minute coding interview
• 30 minute call with the Co-Founder.
