Senior Software Engineer

Join Collibra’s Engineering Team as a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) in Prague.

Guided by Agile principles, the software engineering team leads with confidence, knowing that today’s problems require tomorrow’s solutions. This is a hybrid position based in Prague.

Senior Backend Engineers at Collibra are responsible for

• Estimating, developing and maintaining new features to further improve our products.
• Establishing strong relationships across multiple teams to achieve results and partnering with others to implement new functionalities with an emphasis on quality.
• Developing efficient clean code, serving as an expert in best practices for coding and mentoring more junior members.
• Following agile processes (e.g. Scrum or Kanban) to make sure your deliverables are visible for the entire team and company stakeholders.
• Demonstrating results / functionality / changes / recommendations.
• Taking direct ownership of challenges found and working collaboratively through these with others by sharing your ideas.
• Leading efforts to design, innovate and build software that is both stable and meets customer requirements.

You have

• Professional expertise in scaling Java applications, demonstrable understanding of best practices and function with Spring or Spring Boot, and experience with Relational Databases (preferably PostgresQL) 
• Experience partnering - or leading - through architectural design translation to development
• Work experience in building and designing SaaS software for deployment to the Cloud and knowledge of OO principles, Design Patterns, functional programming and clean code principles
• Experience in following agile process (Scrum) to make sure your deliverables are visible for the entire team and company stakeholders
• You must have a work authorization to work in Prague, CZ.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent related working experience is required.

• Able to work productively with a geographically distributed remote team and able to mentor and advise other engineers you work with on the scrum team.

Reporting to Collibra’s Manager of Software Engineering, Senior Backend Engineer’s measures of success are

• Within your first month, you will get familiar with the environment we use, the way we implement software as an organization, simple business use cases and submit code to production.
• Within your second month, you will implement new user stories with quality and care, and understand what value they will bring to our customers.  
• Within your sixth month, you will be a productive member of the team, reliably delivering quality code, participating in testing and on your way to many interesting challenges and growth opportunities.
