Cruise is seeking a highly skilled and motivated power engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in designing, optimizing, and verifying the power solutions and systems for CPUs, GPUs, MCUs, Cruise custom and off the shelf SOCs. Your expertise will contribute to the development and usage of high-performance solutions for our cutting-edge Autonomous Vehicle technologies and enable us to deliver high-reliability, high-performance self-driving cars.

 

Responsibilities:

  • System Power solution development: Design and development of board-level dc-dc power solutions for the SOCs, including power trees and simulations with a focus on optimization between cost, performance, reliability and efficiency.
  • System Power Validation: board bring-up, validation and power debugging in the lab. Identify the root cause of power related failures and provide solutions.
  • Power Architecture Design: Collaborate with the Silicon team to develop power architecture specifications for new custom SOCs, considering power budgets, performance goals, and system-level requirements.
  • Power Verification: Develop power verification methodologies to validate the silicon chip and system power-related functionality, analyze power consumption, and ensure compliance with power specifications.

 

Requirements:

  • Electrical engineering degree with the following relevant industry experience - BS with 10+ Years or MS with 8+ Years or PhD with 5+ years.
  • Extensive experience in the silicon power engineering, including CPUs, GPUs, MCUs, custom and off-the-shelf SOCs, with a strong focus on power optimization and analysis.
  • Strong in power electronics design, test, board bring up and debug, including PMICs, multi-phase VRs, and power sequencers. 
  • Experienced in designing power entry and conditioning circuits, such as EMI filters, protections and Hot-Swap Controllers. Also, strong analog circuit fundamentals.
  • Experienced using design tools & simulation software to design, validate, and debug. Also, strong in schematic and PCB layout driven by PDN, PCB manufacturing, reliability, and system level distribution.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve power-related issues and optimize power consumption.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Bonus Points!

  • Experience in shipping automotive and/or high reliability products from conception to market with exposure to various automotive safety standards (GMW3172, ISO26262, ISO7637, etc)
  • System level experience with exposure to power distribution, cabling, interconnect, and protection.

 

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $205,300. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
