We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Package Level SI/PI engineer to join our silicon systems team. In this role, you will work with our silicon partner and the internal board design team to perform signal integrity analysis for high speed interfaces and power integrity analysis for critical power domains at the package level, and sign off that the requirements are met. You will also work with the silicon partner and internal teams to guide die bump and package ball assignment. This is an exciting opportunity to work in and contribute to cutting edge automotive silicon engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform 3D and 2.5D simulations of high speed interfaces such as DDR, PCIe, Ethernet and MIPI at the package level and make sure that they meet requirements.
Perform simulations for power integrity of critical rails at the package level and ensure that they meet requirements. Work with the silicon partner to ensure adequate decoupling capacitors are placed properly at the package level.
Work with the board design team to understand board level layout requirements and limitations and feed them back to the silicon partner to ensure board level routability.
Review package design, stackup, bump and ball assignments and vendor simulation SI/PI results.
Conduct signal validation of high speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, DDR, MIPI etc) using TDR, VNA and high speed oscilloscopes during the silicon validation phase.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 10+ years experience or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 7+ years of experience
Excellent understanding of package design, substrate stackup and ball/bump assignments
Strong knowledge of high speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet and their electrical requirements
Experience in working in the lab with network analyzers and high speed scopes
Familiarity with board design and layout practices
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across teams, both internally and externally.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in use of Ansys and Cadence SI/PI tools
Experience with automotive package and board design
The salary range for this position is $139,000 - $204,300. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
