Within the Monetization Engineering team, we try to connect the dots between the aspirations of pinners and the products offered by our partners. In this role, you will build systems that improve the ads delivery funnel, design experiments that shape the utility function, auction mechanism design, ad allocation and grow business insights through analysis of the marketplace dynamics. You will work closely with product managers, data scientists, designers and engineers across the company to deliver pinner facing ads products end-to-end. In short, this is a unique position, where you’ll get the freedom to work to bring together pinners and partners in this unique marketplace and have a material impact on the business.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Build and improve the ads marketplace to optimize value for Pinners, Partners and Pinterest.
  • Apply state-of-art machine learning techniques to improve ads format triggering, ads ranking and selection. Drive value via the ads marketplace systems for bidding, budgeting, ad ranking, tuning, pricing, ad allocation and placement. 
  • Work with designers, product managers, data scientists to design and deliver end-to-end pinner facing ads products that directly move the bottom line for Pinterest. 
  • Design, implement and launch A/B experiments to improve the overall ads marketplace.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning or related field
  • 4+ years of industry experience
  • Strong software engineering, mathematical and analytical skills
  • Hands-on experience with model offline development and online serving
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale online e-commerce systems is preferred
  • Interest and ability in understanding the full ads funnel from bidding and budgeting systems all the way to ads retrieval and allocation to find areas of improvement and deliver value for the business.
  • Impact driven and business focussed. 
  • Strong ads domain knowledge and prior ads experience is a major plus.
  • More specifically, prior ads auction/marketplace or budgeting / pacing experience is preferred
  • Strong communicator and collaborative team player
