As a Senior Software Engineer on the Alpha Strike team at Roblox, you will be the first to develop content with new, cutting edge Roblox features that are in active development before public release. While reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will learn the technologies, evaluate the technical approach, capture issues and identify opportunities to enhance and evolve these features. You will help internal development teams raise the quality bar across many different areas of our engine, so our community developers can create the most engaging experiences on the platform. The content you build will often be used for public demonstrations of new features. Generalists with a technical background, teamwork oriented mindset, and a passion for creating 3D interactive experiences will excel here.

You will:

Experiment with core technologies, combining them in new and unexpected ways to reveal shortcomings and opportunities to evolve the underlying systems
Explore new platform features and improve the associated workflows by developing real world interactive content
Act as technical advisor and consultant to ensure we meet the expectations of Roblox developers and players by identifying missing functionality and areas of improvement
Form strong partnerships with engine teams as you evaluate technical solutions
Represent our top content developers with a passion for unleashing creativity on the platform

You have:

5+ years of professional experience working on consumer-facing games/applications
Proficient in C++
Ability to write high quality, performant code
Excited about building user experiences

Nice to have:

Experience with Lua - the language used by Roblox community developers
Roblox content development experience
Graphics and/or physics engine knowledge
Experience with top 3D engines including Unity and Unreal

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
